Just Another NYE…saturday nine

It’s Just Another New Year’s Eve

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we’ve committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do “random questions,” so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don’t have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today’s meme!

Saturday 9: It’s Just Another New Year’s Eve (1977)

Unfamiliar with this week’s tune? Hear it here.

Welcome to the last Saturday 9 of 2017! Thanks for a great year, everyone.
1) In this song, Barry Manilow declares New Year’s Eve is “just another night.” How do you feel about 12/31? Is it a special occasion or just another night?
Since I am now driving Uber, its going to be a night I am looking forward to! But, its just another night. Usually in bed w hen the b all d rops.

2) Barry sings that in the past year, “we’ve made mistakes.” What in 2017 do you wish you could do over?

I cant wish for a do over, but I can pray that if I have wronged someone, or made a bad decision, then I   pray  that in 2018, I can be a better person.
3) He also sings of happy nights with friends. Tell us about a really good time you had in the past year.
When we went to Geneva on the Lake, and every Saturday spent having breakfast with my family. Its been a rough year health wise for both my husband and I. But none the less, life is good.
4) The song references growing wiser, as well as older. What’s something you learned or discovered in 2017?
Depend on the Lord EVERYDAY. You never know when things are going to change. Pay closer attention to the ones you love. In the summer/fall of 2017, 3 friends of mine shot themselves. Even when I had noticed one dear friend was starting to look ‘out of it’… I didn’t say anything. I should have called him.
5)  What do you wish you had spent more time doing during 2017?
Visiting , praying, saving, loving.
6)  What was the smartest thing you did all this past year?
Consulted a debt counselor to get myself in a good place financially
7)  As this year comes to a close, what are you most grateful for?
My salvation. A husband that cares. A grandson that helps. And my family.
8) When this week’s featured artist, Barry Manilow, was a jingle writer, he wrote the famous “You deserve a break today at McDonald’s” song. When’s the last time you visited the Golden Arches?
Yesterday. Breakfast … Then, I got a ‘ping’!! hahaha. Never fails when I am starving, everyone wants a ride!!
9) Random question: In high school, were you more popular with the boys or the girls?
In high school, as in life, I had 5 girls in our  ‘gang’!!! I was weird, some were in the choir, some were crazy, some were … well, I wont go into that, but  the one thing that we all had in common was that we had  this t hing for each other. We lived close by, we picked up our friends to go to t he store for our folks, we hung out together every either friday or saturday night, and we stood the test of time.  3 have moved away, but 3 of us get together once a mont h. It was like God truly put us in each others lives to get through the ‘teen’ years. He  blessed us so m uch, we are still friends today. xoxo

Oh my goodness! That is a lot of sorrow for one person to have in such a short time. I am so sorry you had to face that, but so thankful that you have the Lord and didn’t have to do it alone. I’m glad you can still find things to feel blessed by and see life as good. I pray 2018 doesn’t hold so much sadness or health problems for you.
